Scratch and Spike Lego Workshop
In summer 2023 Team CWR spent approximately 20 hours teaching elementary school students Scratch and Spike Lego robotics. Each course was taught to two separate groups of 20 students each.
In the Scratch workshop, Team CWR taught scratch and coding fundamentals. Students explored variables, sprites, and operators and also learned to logically break down problems and to think them through. In the Spike LEGO workshop, students used a Scratch-like interface to learn how software controls sensors and motors and gained an understanding of the connection between interfaces they see and how they control technology.
BSA Troop 2399 Robotics Merit Badge
In August of 2023, Troop 2399, an all-girls Scouting USA troop completed their Robotics Merit Badge with CWR. With explanations, demonstrations, and lots of hands-on exercises, the scouts learned about sensors, programming, and mechanical design. They re-built a part of CWR’s robot and learned how to code a portion of it. At the end of the day, they attended a workshop on career opportunities related to robotics and discussed the qualifications and education required for such careers.
